5 Things To Change Your Life Today

1.  Read 30 Minutes a Day:

Reading is important because it develops the mind.  The more you read the more you strengthen your mind. Studies have proven that reading actually improves your intelligence. To get stronger physically you have to exercise. The same holds true about the mind. To gain a higher mental capacity you have to exercise the mind, and reading is one sure way of doing that. Also remember: “The more you learn the more you earn.”

2.   Exercise 30 Minutes a Day

Physical exercise can improve your overall health. The cure for majority of the diseases people have today is to exercise daily. In order to perform at a high level you must be healthy. Start today and work towards becoming the best version of yourself.

3.   Keep a Positive Attitude

I know we’ve all heard the saying your attitude determines your altitude.  This sounds cliché but this couldn’t be truer. Everyone struggles, everyone goes through tough situations, but not everyone progresses in the process. What determines your success story is your attitude towards the situation you experience. Your level of toughness can also be measured by attitude. True toughness is the ability to respond positively to any situation.  Also remember:  Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” –Napoleon Hill-

4.   Build Lasting Relationships

Most people only value things that have a price tag. All those things can be replaced; therefore you should not place your value in them. Like they say, you can have all the money in the world and have nobody to spend it with and still be unhappy. We were placed here on earth to help each other. How many times have you’ve been unhappy and had a friend you could call that would pick you up? How many times have you been without and had a girl or boyfriend that would provide? These things are priceless. The only thing would should cherish is people and the relationships we build. Building lasting relationships is the one sure thing that will help you get through rainy days and keep you happy in process.

5.   Be True To Yourself

Always act in accordance with who you are and what you believe. Never let society foist an identity upon you. Have the courage to create and mold your own life. Do not “lie to kick it.” Simpler said, do not pretend to be someone else to gain acceptance. Be authentic. Everyone in the world is unique. There are approximately 7.1 billion people on earth and not one of us has the same fingerprints.  This is how the most high designed us. I believe he did it to prove to us how unique we really are. Those who are most successful in life were considered weird to most people, but now are considered  the trend setters. Be true to yourself because there is nothing and no one else that has ever been created like you.

What Makes an Athlete Great

Have you ever wondered what makes someone a tough athlete? Or a good leader? Or a tough competitor? Why do some people get through adversity and others succumb to it.

What makes the difference?

Most of the time we answer these questions by looking at the skill set of the nation's top performers. The dazzling performances amazes us and leads us to believe that talent alone can make a performer great.

But we all know that talent is never enough..

All the great performers have one trait in common. TOUGHNESS.. I know that we put a big emphasis on size, strength and athleticism, but toughness is definitely the quality that separates two athletes who have equal ability.

In fact, when you do your research, you'll discover that your talent or your intelligence doesn't play that big of a role in greatness. The information I have found says that intelligence is only 30% the cause of your achievement.

They are studies that are starting to reveal that your mental toughness plays the most important role in   achieving goals.

What Makes An Athlete Mentally Tough?

1.Attitude

I'm sure we've all heard the famous cliches: "your attitude will make or break you" and "your attitude determines your altitude." I here to tell you that these two quotes couldn't be more true. When it comes to toughness your attitude is key. The truly tough athletes are able to respond positively to anything that thrown at them. The truly tough athletes are able to respond positively to anything that thrown at them. No, that is not a typo I meant to type that sentence twice.  When you can respond positively  to any and everything it makes dealing with adversity easier.

2.Consistency

Consistency is the corner stone of toughness and is essentially the essence of greatness. Simply put Mentally tough athletes don't miss workouts. They show up everyday ready to get better. Teammates and coaches know what to expect from consistent players. There is no better feeling as coach than to know your players are going to show up everyday and strive for greatness.

3. Heart

Heart is the one quality that we all embrace. When I ask my players the question what makes a player tough they always say his heart. To be great in anything you have to show a positive attitude, a consistent work ethic and you have to have a big heart.

3 Reasons John Wall is a Superstar

After 5 years of putting in work John Wall is finally getting the credit he deserves. The former UK guard is the fan favorite for the All-Star Game. Wall is leading all the Eastern Conference guards in votes. So why has Wall been so effective this year?

1. Wall has become a supreme defender.

Its taken a few years for John Wall to start to get any recognition, but it has always been apparent that he could be one of the elites. Playing the point guard position at 6'4 along with remarkable speed and a 43in vertical makes for a vicious defender. It would be hard to find a point guard in the league that Wall wouldn't match-up well with. He has the reach on smaller guards and he's quicker than majority of the guards his size. Wall's length makes it easy to deflect passes and create easy opportunities for the Wizards. This season Wall is 2nd in league in the steals category, behind Steph Curry. Wall's performance has helped Washington raise their level of play on the defense end of the court. The Wizards are 5th in total defense. This is a major jump compared to the prior three seasons.

2. Wall's game is constantly evolving.

John Wall with his supreme athleticism has continued to get better over the course of 5 years. He came into the league an exceptional athlete with a lot of hype surrounding his game. Wall didn't understand how he'd have play to be successful in a point guard driven league. His first couple years were full of speed bumps. Wall played way too fast. As a result, he suffered in the assist to turnover ratio. In the 2012 season he averaged 8 assist and 3.9 turnovers. However over time Wall has learned how to play. His game has evolved and he is now averaging 10 assist per game and 3.7 turnovers. This seems like a bunch of turnovers, but its not when you're handling the ball as much as John Wall is during a game. Wall's field goal percentage has risen also. In his rookie season he shot just 40% from the field. Currently Wall is shooting 45% from the field. Wall is proving the doubters wrong and becoming more of an outside threat. At this rate he may be ready to take the crown for being the best point guard in the NBA.

3. Wall makes his team and teammates better.

Averaging 17 points and 10 assists Wall is becoming a primer player playing on a winning team. The Wizards association are finally back being competitive. Some analyst really think that the Wizards have a legit shot at holding up the championship trophy at the end of the post season. Wall is a big reason why Washington is seeing so much success. In his first year as a Wizard they only won 23 games. In Wall's sophomore year they won 20 games. By his 4th season as NBA starter they had won 44 games; 21 games more than when he was first drafted. They even advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Wall was the catalyst for their playoff run in 2014. He distributed the ball well and made dazzling finishes at the rim. The one thing that really started to raise his level of play is him learning how change gears and controlling the pace of a game. Since Wall's minor adjustments he has lead the current Washington Wizards to a 29-14 record. His style of play is definitely taking Washington to new heights. Wall deserves all the credit he's getting and should be known as a superstar. The sky is the limit for this young superstar on the rise.
